I recommend Dean Koontz's MR MURDER to be followed by Dean Koontz's DARK RIVERS OF THE HEART.

I recommend Dean Koontz's MR MURDER to be followed by Dean Koontz's DARK RIVERS OF THE HEART. These are a solid one-two punch! The stories build on one another. Concepts and groups are introduced in Dean Koontz's MR MURDER that Dean Koontz's DARK RIVERS OF THE HEART play out to completion. THE interesting aspect of this book as Mr Koontz describes at some point in the forward or afterward, is the fact that his protagonist's childhood mirrors his own in that he was terrified of his father for VERY good reason. (I think that this is that book...it has been a while) Anyway, you cannot go wrong. I would strongly caution that the beginning of MR MURDER seems pointless for far too long. They it explodes into action that grips you until the end.

DARK RIVERS OF THE HEART is technically a better book, but Dean Koontz's WATCHERS is the book that my heart loves. Read it too!!

Take a walk in the main characters shoes as he is compeled to find the person whom he thinks will deliver him for his dark past and give him a meaningful life. Pursued by a psychotic government agent and a equally twisted girlfriend, and a serial killer father who is in prison. This book has plenty of twists and turns to keep you wondering what will happen next.

Very informative

This book gives the non professional welder the basic information needed to weld steel and aluminum. It provides the metal information as well as the welder and filler rod/wire info. It is devided into MIG and TIG sections so that you don't get confused. It is easy to read and it also gives you charts to make your different settings.

TIG & MIG Welding

Look at the price of this product! If you believe that you get what you pay for in this world, this book is not for you. It's just too light in useful information on TIG welding. It's totally outdated with photos of antiquated machines and it gives little information on the techniques of TIG welding. In essence it reads like an introduction to TIG welding with only 77 pages (many of which consist of test questions) dedicated to this subject. Even used at $34, it offers less insights than the free information you can find online. Yes, it's a good introduction to TIG, but no, it's not worth the cheapest price you will buy it for. Keep hunting for something better.

Microbiology textbook

A good comprehensive test concerning all aspects of microbiology. There is a very useful section of photographs and graphics which demonstrate the rich variety of microorganisms that might be seen in a laboratory. This is a very good text with extensive detail for any level of college / university education and beyond. However, this text is large and heavy, which means that is stays on my shelf in my room instead of travelling with me to school.

A great book for one stop research

This is an excellent reference book. It is a bit much to use as a textbook as it has more more of an encyclopedia feel to it. Most chapters cite about 500 sources but can be as much as 1400 to give you an idea of the extent of the information condensed in this book. Key characteristics of bacteria are listed in charts in each chapter and some identification schemes are provided. This is clearly a text dedicated to bacteria (15 of 24 chapters). The remaining chapters are broader in their scope and cover things such as general microbiology practices, mycology, viruses, and parasitology.

I bought this book as a reference for the board certification exams in medical technology. It answered every question I needed to find an answer to and so much more. I passed my exams and I'm still using this book. If I need in-depth descriptions of an organism, it's all there. Medical technologists or students, you won't be disappointed with this book.

This is a fantastic book. While it is especially valuable for beginners and first year sales reps, it has value for anybody in the profession. As an experienced sales professional myself, I will say that this won't teach a seasoned sales veteran any new information about HOW to sell, but it will help to realign your thoughts with WHY they buy. Huge difference there that we sometimes become jaded to after many years in the business. We get so focused on saying things we like to say, but disregard the things that the customer needs to hear. This book will also help the seasoned veteran to get back to the positive outlook and remember why they started selling to begin with. Sales is truly the best profession in the world, nothing will give you the satisfaction like a successful selling career. I wholeheartedly believe that ANYBODY in sales, regardless of skill level or experience would benefit from reading this book.

I ordered this book on 1 April 2016. Because of work (non-sales) and other obligations, I recently finished reading the book.

I bought the original book I wanted pure advice without revisions. The book is an amazing read. I look forward to my 2nd and 3rd reviews. Do not feel like you have to rush through this book. Although the advice is given through narrative, it is first and foremost a reference book. Place it on your bookshelf next to How to Get Rich: One of the World's Greatest Entrepreneurs Shares His Secrets.

THE Book on Sales!

Below are key excerpts from the book that I found particularly insightful:

1- "If, in your heart, you really feel the sales process is something you do t0 the prospect, then you are a manipulator. The dictionary defines manipulate: "To control the action of, by management; also, to manage artfully or fraudulently. Manipulation: Skillful or dexterous management, sometimes for purpose of fraud, state of being manipulated." I'll be the first to admit that manipulators make sales, but in my thirty-six years in the profession I have never known even one manipulator who was successful in the profession. If, in your heart, you feel the sales process is something you do for the prospect, then this book could represent a significant addition to your sales library. Your benefits will be considerable because you are truly interested in benefiting others."

2- "You've got to establish that trust and respect with your prospects if you expect to be a sales professional. This should be obvious. but for fear it's not, I'll spell it out. Again, you cannot be one kind of person and another kind of salesperson. You must be consistent in all areas of life if you are going to achieve maximum results in building your sales career. That's one of the major reasons we deal with the entire person rather than just the salesperson throughout this book. This is one of the "not-so-little" things that make the buying difference in the prospect's mind."

3- "People forget price but they'll never forget poor quality or a poor choice. They generally give the salesperson a generous portion of the blame. Some of that goes with the territory, but too much blame means you won't have the territory for long."

4- "High performers in the world of selling establish trust with customers by one-on-one, eye-to-eye communication skills. They maintain n trust by personally assuming responsibility for completing the sale, which means servicing the account on an ongoing basis and utilizing their company support people in the most effective manner. High performers demonstrated great integrity with their follow-through and belief that the sale is not complete until the product is installed and functioning satisfactorily."

5- "The critical step: in the world of selling is this step of honesty which is your total conviction, your complete belief that the product or service you sell is the best buy for the prospect."

6- "Sympathy means you feel like another person feels. Empathy means you understand how the other person feels, though you do not feel the same way...To be truly professional you must be able to comfortably move from the seller's side of the table to the buyer's side. If you know how your prospect thinks and feels, you're definitely going to sell more of what you're selling because you will communicate more effectively."

7- "One myth—that a salesperson should not get involved with customer concerns other than the purpose of the sales call—was exploded, as was the concept that price isn't important and that you should "promise them anything" to close a sale. Customers want and expect heir salespeople to be able to act as trustworthy resources who respond directly and provide them expertise, backed by effective recommendations. One significant characteristic of the high producer is his willingness to explain product drawbacks."

8- " H in the heart of your sales career is honesty, E is ego and empathy, A is your attitude toward you your prospects and profession, R is for physical, mental, and spiritual reserve, T is for tough—and the toughest thing is love"

9- "When the inner man speaks, the I not speak from the heart unless he truly believes in his product and/or service. This means that he must have paid the price by obtaining profound knowledge of his product or service. One must also believe this product/service is unquestionably what the customer/patient needs."

10- "Almost without exception, every product or service can be sold by painting word pictures, especially if the pictures are in the present tense. As I've previously stated, we think in pictures and we buy pictures if we are painted into the picture as satisfied customers."

11- "It's better to have the no today than tomorrow for the simple reason it clears your mind. You can now pursue new prospects and not count on that one for a future sale. Once you do, you fall into the trap of not prospecting for new prospects and the sale you miss today will cost you sales tomorrow."

12- "There is one specific point, however, when I throw in the towel and withdraw my efforts to close. That point is when the prospect makes it clear—after seeing the benefits—that he has no interest and cannot or will not buy. Until that point, however, I am going to make an honest effort to close the sale."

13- "I deal with and use questions in every segment of Secrets of Closing the Sale. There is no doubt in my mind that your career as a salesperson will move forward faster as a direct result of learning how to ask questions and how to use the proper voice inflection than from any other skills you might develop."

14- "To build a sales career, you need to acquire the knowledge made available through sales trainers, books, recordings, and seminars. With that knowledge you should weave in a poetic philosophy of life which says that "you can get everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want." To the knowledge and poetic philosophy, add the common sense of the old farmer which says, "Friend, I don't care what you do, know you've got to work and work hard at seeing new prospects and servicing old customers." You have a moral obligation to work so hard at building your sales career and becoming truly professional that as my friend John Nevin from Australia says, "If anyone ever sees you coming and says, 'Here comes a salesman,' you won't let him down.'"

About the Author

Amy Kimoto-Kahn was born in Fullerton, California and now lives with her family in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is Yonsei, or fourth-generation Japanese-American, and a mom of three. She is a graduate of the Miyajima Ramen School in Osaka, Japan, and has taught a popular series of Asian-inspired cooking classes for Williams-Sonoma. She shares her Japanese-American homestyle, kids-will-like-it-too recipes on her blog, EASY PEASY JAPANESEY. When she is not cooking, she runs a mom-focused marketing firm, Fat Duck Consulting that she founded in 2008. She was selected to be a judge for the 2016 Edible Communities EDDY Awards.

Bring authentic ramen into your home and never have to rely on a restaurant again

Having spent 10 years in Japan, I have developed a picky and discerning palate for Ramen. I also crave it at least once a week, and restaurants that serve up authentic ramen are very few and far between (trust me, we've tried several!) Amy Kahn's Simply Ramen recipes are the real deal. She outlines the process in making ramen from soup base (the Miso base is UNREAL... so rich and flavorful, with complexity and depth.. and it keeps for at least 10 days in the fridge if you make a full batch, and only gets better with time), noodles from scratch, and traditional toppings - my favorite, is the chashu (BBQ pork) that you braise in a soy-based liquid, that you can later re-purpose for seasoned boiled eggs. Everything is fool-proof, and the options are limitless. I really like how she breaks the book into several sections - Beef, Pork, Vegetable, Seafood, and Spicy, so that it appeals to virtually any demographic. (Yes, you can enjoy ramen as a vegetarian too!) The outline of the book in a way mirrors the way you build out a bowl of ramen - a step-by-step process that you can customize and make your own. The best part, is that she introduces creative additions,
such as chorizo, karaage (Japanese fried chicken), even lobster as specialty ingredients. Lastly, a bowl of ramen isn't complete as a Japanese meal, without a few sides. Whether it's age-dashi tofu, Japanese potato salad, or my personal favorite, "korokke" (or croquettes with potatoes and ground beef), Simply Ramen has everything covered. With the limitless possibilities, no bowl of ramen ever needs to be the same again!
This book has immediately become a staple in my collection - the photos are mouth-watering, and Amy Kahn incorporates stories of her first journey with this book including a narrative of her family life and tour of Japan... it's a unique piece of art that has been thoughtfully curated and enables Japanese cuisine to be accessible by anyone. You won't regret this for yourself, or as an awesome gift for a friend.

What a beautiful book! Very high quality. I've tried a few recipes and can see myself getting better as I try more and get more experience. I would definitely take a class from Amy.
These are not quick meals to put together. Food that is good and healthy does take time. Embrace it. It's worth it.

About the Author
Stanford E. Rubin, professor emeritus, was a professor and coordinator of the Doctor of Rehabilitation Program at the Rehabilitation Institute at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale from 1980 to 2005. Previously, he worked as a senior research scientist at the Arkansas Rehabilitation Research and Training Center and as a counselor at Wright State University. Dr. Rubin has worked in the fi eld of rehabilitation for the past 38 years and has over 100 professional publications. In addition to Foundations of the Vocational Rehabilitation Process, Dr. Rubin has coauthored Case Management and Rehabilitation Counseling (Roessler & Rubin, 1982, 1992, 1998, 2006) and Facilitative Management in Rehabilitation Counseling: A Casebook (Bozarth & Rubin, 1972), as well as coedited Contemporary Challenges to the Rehabilitation Counseling Profession (Rubin & Rubin, 1988). He has also authored several widely used, comprehensive in-service training packages for practicing rehabilitation counselors. Dr. Rubin has served as the president of the American Rehabilitation Counseling Association (1982 1983), as a commissioner on the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certifi cation (1980 1986), as a board member of the Foundation for Rehabilitation Education and Research (1995 2000), as the editor of two special issues of professional journals, and on the editorial boards of the Journal of Applied Rehabilitation Counseling and Rehabilitation Education.

Richard T. Roessler is a university professor in the Rehabilitation, Human Resources, and Communication Disorders Department in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas. He has served as a senior research scientist at the Arkansas Research and Training Center in Vocational Rehabilitation and as coordinator of the rehabilitation education program. He has authored or coauthored over 150 journal articles, book chapters, and monographs, as well as four textbooks. Foundations of the Vocational Rehabilitation Process and Case Management and Rehabilitation Counseling (4th ed.) are widely used in graduate education. He coauthored the fi rst two Richard J. Baker Memorial Monographs published by the Vocational Evaluation and Work Adjustment Association.
