The Wander Society - are you a member?

A whimsical exposition of an idea that has long been central to our philosophy... it is exciting to see how many beloved writers and naturalists from yesteryears were also "members" of the Wander Society (unbeknownst to them). My first impulse on receiving my copy was to buy more to have on hand to give to kindred spirits.

A fun book that is also a bit mysterious!

I love this book! I really like it's simplicity and her easy "how to make" projects. I keep it with me everywhere I go. I'm ordering some as Christmas presents for my "Wander" friends and family. If you love adventure in a low key way read and enjoy Keri Smith's The Wander Society.

I felt like I had finally found belonging in a group of ...

When I first received the book I was completely intrigued. I felt like I had finally found belonging in a group of like minded people where I had always seen myself as alone in my habits of wandering in nature and following my curiosity. I was also very intrigued by the unfolding of Keri's discovery of this secret group. My investigative nature kicked in and I could not stop asking questions about the origins of this mysterious society. I noticed that all of the drawings on the wander society website looked familiarly like Keri's past instruction sheets in her previous books. And then I researched the origins of the website. It was created in 2015. I felt the joy and curiosity drain from my face. This means that Keri created the website herself. I have to wonder if the whole story is just that.. A story. While I still find companionship in the philosophy of the book I must admit I feel a sense of loss as well. Sure people have been packaging stories as truth for many years. But this one hit me harder than I wanted.

This atlas is a must for forensic practitioners who perform age estimation based on skeletal development. Every library should have at least one copy. This atlas by Greulich and Pyle is a classic. "Guerra Contra Todos Los Puertorriqueños" tocó mi corazón y me conmovió cuando leí la edición en inglés. Ahora la versión en español me deja sin palabras porque si en inglés es impactante, en mi propio idioma lo es mucho más. Fascina la humanización de la figura de Don Pedro Albizu Campos.

Aunque ya conocía muchos de los hechos, la pasión conque Nelson Denis narra los sucesos le da a este libro una frescura y dinamismo que no había encontrado en ningún otro libro sobre el tema. El libro te agarra y no te suelta. Te transporta en tiempo y lugar, arrojando luz y brindando un entendimiento especial a hechos vividos. Y mientras el telón se va levantando para revelar lo nuevo, lo ya conocido parece nuevo también, debido al estilo y una perspectiva de autor nueva y refrescante.

La información que Denis incluye en el libro, obtenida a través de los documentos desclasificados, no tiene precio.

Yo viví parte de esa historia. Recuerdo, de niña, la ley de la Mordaza, y vivo siempre consciente de los estragos y sufrimientos que causó, y de cómo nos afecta todavía a todos los puertorriqueños. Viví la persecución contra el independentismo, pues como estudiante universitaria sufrí "carpeteo", persecución, acoso, amenazas, y la fabricación de casos, por ser parte del movimiento pro independencia en Puerto Rico. Me alegra mucho que se haya escrito este libro.

"Guerra Contra Todos Los Puertorriqueños" es un libro honesto y fascinante, que no oculta nada, sobre una parte de la historia de Puerto Rico que hacía tiempo no se tocaba. Un libro necesario en la educación en Puerto Rico, especialmente para la juventud, y que todos los puertorriqueños deben leer. Un libro de gran interés y valor para personas de todas las nacionalidades.

¡Una película basada en este libro sería tremenda!!

Very few books have made me angry. This one's one of them. Now I need to keep reading to learn more about this dark chapter in our island's past.

Regardless of whether you're from Puerto Rico or not, you should read this book. Period.

About the Author
Terry Bartelt is currently an Electromechanical Instructor at Fox Valley Technical College, with more than twenty five years teaching experience in the field. He was a National Science Foundation (NSF) Recipient for Process Control in 1997 and received another NSF grant in 2005 to develop multimedia materials covering industrial automation related topics. In addition, Mr. Bartelt's Electromechanical Technology Program was presented the Secretary of Education Award as one of the top ten community college programs in the country.

An excellent text

I can see where this text can be confusing to those with little or no electrical background. If this is you, you need some background theory before biting off more than you can chew. This text is well designed and explanation is more than necessary (a definite positive). Although this has nothing to do with the text itself, the printer could have used a better quality paper...highlighting areas or lines creates wet areas that bleed through to the other page. Especially colors other than yellow. Either way, it will be in my professional library.

Good book for Industrial Electronics Technician!

I purchased this book as a refresher for a new job with a major aircraft manufacturer. I was very pleased with the content and the book's general condition (used). The book was supposed to contain a CD with a final chapter. I was disappointed that it was missing, but that's the risk you take when you buy used products. It wasn't a show-stopper and I am still satisfied with the value!

Theory Construction

As a beginning researcher in medicine, I was quite surprised to find that medicine is considered an atheoretical science. Perhaps I missed a few classes along the way, but as a family physician, I thought I understood theory and theory development. That was until I really started thinking about it. After asking several researchers, mentors, and general queries to other physicians about theory development, I was left with the following: "This is very, very important, but I can't tell you how to start."
Strategies for Theory Construction in Nursing is a well written, easy to read book that gives a basic underpinning to theory development. It is the first book on this topic that I could easily understand. Concepts, statements and theories are developed through analysis, synthesis and derivation. This book, with examples, offers a step-by-step approach to development. It is well worth your time.

This book also serves as a ready reference for "seasoned" nurses when reflecting on theory development and modification.

If you are a student in an MPhil/PhD program and have to do concept analysis, then this is a must have. Walker and Avant simplified the Wilsonian method. I followed the book and did a great job in my coursework and then in the conceptual and operational definition of the variables for my research proposal.
